Collaboration Link 3: An Event

Collaboration Link 4: An Event
One blog sponsors an event in which many blogs contribute

This kind of collaboration occurs in many forms around the Internet. Here are two of my favorites–one that occurs often and a second that is ongoing. This may seem similar to Darren’s Bloggy Crush Collaboration Idea, but the topics here are usually more centered within a certain niche and often chosen to establish participation within a young community or to suss out a large chunk of information on a business topic. Two exapmles jump to mind immediately.

1. A Carnival Carnivals are popular because each blogger can showcase hie or her own interests and strengths to the benefit of the group. Martin, a Successful and Outstanding Blogger, is part of a Marketing Carnival at the moment that has participant writing posts. One host collects seven and compiles them together into a link list as a group publication, pointing to the articles on each individual blog.

2. Let the Comments Be the Posts David at Glittering Muse thought a friend of his had a great idea when the friend pulled a well–written comment out into the light of day. So David started an ongoing readership appreciation event called Glittering Commentari. He has advertised and invited blogs all over the Internet to look through their comments to find particularly moving, insightful, or funny comments that can stand on their own and deserve credit for the great comments they are. You can find information on how to participate at Glittering Commentari.

These collaborations are just two more ways that bloggers have found to link their efforts, ideas, and quality content to make their blogs more relevant and their communities stronger. Learning from each other and sharing what we know . . . where have I heard that before?

Didn’t think I’d find another way to get comments into a post this week, did you? he he.

Wait until you see what’s next . . . :)

    Hi Garnet,
That project is such a great example of a way a community can work together to have fun and trade some relevant links. I think you might find some takers here once they get a chance to read the post about it.

    Hey Liz,
Can I use my virtual editors pen to polish the Carnival part ?

Actually, it’s only 7 posts that’s selected by the host of that week that have been submitted to them.

The posts are already written and the weekly hosts simply has a small intro, links and comments to their selected 7 posts.

So, let’s say you think one of your recent posts is a good marketing-type post (you’ve got a few of them hanging around, Liz ;-), submit it to the next weeks host.

    BTW, did I tell you I’m hositng Week # 13 (Feb 5, 2006) of the Carnival :-)

I think I mixed up the number of posts with the number of weeks. Could that be it? Are there 16 weeks? I did a little fiddling. There. How’s that?

    That’s better, Liz - now I can give you 10 out of 10 ;-)

16 weeks? now you’re confusing me ;-) It’s actually ongoing, week-in, week-out hopefully for a looong time or until it whithers away - hey are you going to offer to host one week or what - c’mon, do it!

I think the 16 comes from a recent host “breaking the rules” by placing 16 links instead of 7. But then I guess, rules are meant to be broken.

There you have it Martin, I’m just so easily confused.
Sure I’ll host a week. That would be fun and interesting for the readers I would think. But I get to break the rules too then, because everyone wants Liz’s links.

I need to come up with a contest, Martin. I have 30 days free Blog Ads to give away. How should I do it? I thought I’d ask you and Mike.

Nah, you don’t need a contest … just divvy it up between your two hemisphere kings and we’ll take care of it ;-)

Okay, a contest. Let me get my brain into gear and start mentally brainstorming some ideas … I’ll get back to you.

    Thanks Martin,
I’m looking for something that I might put out into the blogosphere that would attract some readers. You know so that my son can finish college. :)

    Hi Mike,
Did you hear we made the Washington Post, as “the buzz of the blogosphere?”

Yeah, I need a contest idea that I can spread around. Something like why you think Liz should be the top of the A List, er, What makes you a Successful Blogger?
